January 09, 2020

Tara Sanft, M.D., associate professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology) and Director of the Smilow Cancer Hospital (SCH) Survivorship Clinic, has been appointed the inaugural Chief Patient Experience Officer at Yale Cancer Center (YCC) and SCH at Yale New Haven Hospital.

In this new role, Sanft will work closely with the Chief Medical Experience Officer for the Yale New Haven Hospital System and Yale Medicine to continue to build on the exceptional patient and family centered environment at Smilow Cancer Hospital and its network of 15 Care Centers. Sanft will also focus on the provider experience to build an efficient practice environment and to foster a culture of wellness.

“Dr. Sanft's background as a provider of care through our Breast Center and as Medical Director of our Survivorship Clinic, where she consults with patients with a variety of diagnoses, gives her a unique perspective on the patient experience and will help to inform her new role,” said Charles Fuchs, M.D., M.P.H., director of YCC and physician-in-chief at SCH.

Sanft will start her new position immediately.
