Initiative to Minimize Pharmaceutical Risk in Older Veterans (IMPROVE)

IMPROVE is an interprofessional curriculum for post-graduate primary care trainees to develop their knowledge and skills in addressing polypharmacy in older adults. To learn more visit the IMPROVE site.

Goals of Care/Med Management Mini-CEX

Facilitator Guides: These guides contain a session outline, learning objectives and session content guides for educational sessions for Internal Medicine Residents. Each guide is intended for a four-hour session, however, can be split into multiple shorter sessions if needed. There are facilitator guides for the session of "Goals of Care" and "Medical Management and Geriatric Primary Care".

Evaluation Materials: Included here are evaluation tools to be used after delivery of the educational sessions for "Goals of Care" and "Medication Management and Geriatric Primary Care". For each session there is a pre and post test, validated geriatrics attitude scale (imbedded in pre and post test documents), a post session commitment to change and a follow up commitment to change (intended for 3-6 months after session).

Goals of Care Cases: Four short cases to be utilized for role play with Internal Medicine Residents during Goals of Care session. The cases take place in the ambulatory setting and allow residents to build skills in delivering bad news.
