Mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercises (Mini-CEX)

The Mini-clinical evaluation exercise (Mini-CEX) tools below are intended to assess medical residents on the Mini-Cog, Falls Risk Assessment, and Mobility Assessments for the 30 Second Chair Stand, 4 Stage Balance Test, Timed Up and Go Test, and Goals of Care/Medication Management. Below you will find the facilitator guides and Mini-CEX forms for each exercise.

Interactive Interprofessional Curriculum for Internal Medicine Resident

Facilitator Guides: These guides contain a session outline, learning objectives and session content guides for educational sessions for Internal Medicine Residents. Each guide is intended for a four-hour session, however, can be split into multiple shorter sessions if needed. There are facilitator guides for the session of "Goals of Care" and "Medical Management and Geriatric Primary Care".

Evaluation Materials: Included here are evaluation tools to be used after delivery of the educational sessions for "Goals of Care" and "Medication Management and Geriatric Primary Care". For each session there is a pre and post test, validated geriatrics attitude scale (imbedded in pre and post test documents), a post session commitment to change and a follow up commitment to change (intended for 3-6 months after session).

Goals of Care Cases: Four short cases to be utilized for role play with Internal Medicine Residents during Goals of Care session. The cases take place in the ambulatory setting and allow residents to build skills in delivering bad news.
