Dr. Paradies conducts research on the health, social and economic effects of racism as well as anti-racism theory, policy and practice across diverse settings which include online, in workplaces, schools, universities, housing, the arts, and health. He also teaches and undertakes research in Indigenous knowledges. He has authored 200 publications and been awarded $28 million in funding. He is an invited reviewer for 110 journals and has assessed grants for the U.S. National Science Foundation, U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation, Australian Research Council, New Zealand Marsden Fund Council, Swiss National Science Foundation and the Austrian Science Fund. Dr. Paradies has 9,200 Google Scholar citations with a h index of 48.

Presentation outline:

This presentation will detail how racism can be defined and measured before considering existing models and empirical evidence for racism as a fundamental determinant of health. He will then define and conceptualize anti-racism, including principles, policies and practices at the individual and organizational level, before concluding with a discussion of broader concepts, action and activism required beyond anti-racism.
