A Tribute to Dr. Marjorie S. Rosenthal

Dr. Marjorie Rosenthal, who died this past December, was a beloved member of the Yale medical community for many years…that is, of many of the communities here. She was deeply connected to writing and art as well as community-based participatory research, with her interests and passions in these areas often merging.

As a Co-Director of the National Clinician Scholars Program, Margi forged ties between New Haven and Yale, fostered a new era of research that meaningfully engages community members as partners rather than participants, and mentored the next generation of Scholars with a spirit of love, authenticity, and a commitment to justice.

As a faculty affiliate of the Program for Humanities in Medicine, and through her broad involvement in writing and the arts, Margi used multiple forms of media including essays and graphic narratives to create powerful stories about navigating and confronting health systems, and generously mentored students, trainees, and colleagues with their own writing projects.

We invite you to join us in a tribute to Margi and her outstanding work in these areas on May 13th at 6:00 PM EST. You will hear from trainees, colleagues, and current and former mentees who will share memories, read from her written and graphic work, and gather, virtually, to remember the inimitable, generous, lovely, witty, talented, brilliant person we miss so much.
