Focus on Forgiveness for Global Forgiveness Day

Global Forgiveness Day is observed on July 7 to encourage the practice of forgiving others and ourselves. It aims to spread awareness about the healing power of forgiveness and its vital role in well-being and for a more peaceful life. Studies have indicated that people who are able to forgive are healthier and happier. Focusing on forgiveness is beneficial for several reasons. Holding on to anger hurts us more than anyone else and unresolved emotions like disappointment or resentment can increase stress levels and may contribute to health problems. It also robs us of joy.

Forgiveness is a strength of character and a healing virtue revered in many of the world's religious and philosophical traditions. However, that doesn't mean that it's easy. Participants in this workshop will learn more about the evidence-based benefits of practicing forgiveness as well as some simple yet powerful techniques for encouraging and supporting forgiveness of one's self and others.

This workshop is presented by Education Specialist Danielle Casioppo, MS, Certified Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice instructor, Mindful Change Coach and Mental Health First Aid instructor with Being Well at Yale.
