DESCRIPTION:Bio : Dr. Yongfeng Yang obtained his Ph.D. degree from Kyushu 
 University in Japan in 2001. From 2002 to 2014\, he worked at the Departm
 ent of Biomedical Engineering\, UC Davis. He has held the position of pro
 fessor at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology\, Chinese Academ
 y of Sciences since 2015. His research is primarily centered on the devel
 opment of technologies aimed at enhancing the precision of PET diagnosis\
 , compassing innovative depth-encoding PET detectors\, algorithms for PET
  imaging reconstruction and analysis\, as well as high-performance PET sc
 anners. He served as the principal investigator (PI) for two National Ins
 titute of Health R01 grants in the United States (awarded in 2006\, and 2
 010)\, a major national research instrument development grant from the Na
 tional Natural Science Foundation of China (2015)\, and a peacock innovat
 ion team grant from Shenzhen City (2017). Abstract : Positron Emission To
 mography (PET) imaging measures the metabolic accumulation of biomolecule
 s labeled with positron-emitting isotopes within the body and is a highly
  sensitive functional and molecular imaging technique. Its key advantage 
 lies in its ability to accurately diagnose diseases before the anatomical
  changes detectable by other imaging techniques occur. In this presentati
 on\, initially\, I shall provide an overview of my research endeavors spa
 nning over two decades\, focusing on the advancement of depth-encoding PE
 T detectors and the development of high-performance PET scanners\, exempl
 ified by the microPET II small animal and ultra-high resolution mouse bra
 in PET scanners\, as well as the MRI-compatible SIAT aPET scanner for sma
 ll animal and the SIAT bPET scanner for human brain imaging. Subsequently
 \, a concise introduction to my future research plans will be presented.\
