DESCRIPTION:The Yale Department of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry is
pleased to welcome Martin Jinek\, PhD\, for a special seminar hosted by M
B&B faculty member Franziska Bleichert. Martin Jinek\, PhD Professor of B
iochemistry\, Department of Biochemistry\, University of Zurich "Molecula
r Mechanisms and Engineering of RNA-Guided Transposons and Recombinases"
Dr. Jinek received his PhD from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory
(EMBL) in Heidelberg\, where he trained under Dr. Elena Conti\, before c
ompleting postdoctoral research with Prof. Jennifer Doudna at the Univers
ity of California\, Berkeley. He is now a Full Professor of Biochemistry
at the University of Zurich\, where his lab applies biochemical and struc
tural approaches to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying cellu
lar regulation through protein-RNA interactions.\n\nSpeaker:\nMartin Jine
