Application Process

Application Requirements:

New Graduate (or less than 1 year post-graduation)

  • Graduate of ARC-PA accredited PA program, or accredited FNP program, minimum 3.0 GPA
  • NCCPA certification-eligible, or ANCC/AANP certified
  • CT licensure/CT license-eligible
  • Curriculum Vitae, including any prior health care experience
  • Cover letter, explaining why you wish to pursue an emergency medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital
  • 2 letters of recommendation
    1. One from Program Director
    2. One from faculty member/clinical preceptor
  • Official transcripts from graduate program
  • Recent headshot

Practicing PA/NP

  • Graduate of ARC-PA accredited PA program, or accredited FNP program, minimum 3.0 GPA
  • NCCPA certified, or ANCC/AANP certified
  • CT licensure/CT license-eligible
  • Curriculum Vitae, including any prior health care experience
  • Cover letter, explaining why you wish to pursue an emergency medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital
  • 2 letters of recommendation, including one from supervising/collaborative physician, or department head
  • Letter of good standing from current employer
  • No history of license suspension/revocation
  • No history of employment dismissal from prior PA/NP positions

Application Dates

An electronic application will be available online in October each year. All application materials should be received no later than January 1st, with interviews scheduled for late January/February. Incoming classes can expect to begin the program in early June to coincide with the Yale academic year.

Training Permits

The state of Connecticut specifically recognizes PA residents in regulation regarding graduate medical education. Graduates of accredited PA programs who have not yet passed the PANCE exam and obtained full CT state licensure as a PA may still practice as PA residents under a state-issued training permit.
