About Us

MENA PAIR

The Middle East and North Africa Program for Advanced Injury Research (MENA PAIR) is a unique program funded by the US. National Institutes of Health that builds upon long-standing partnerships between Yale University and the American University of Beirut to advance injury research capacity in the region. MENA PAIR will provide trainees with the skills, mentorship, and professional networks to become leaders in injury research in the region and globally. Our team’s diversity, broad expertise, and decades of experience working in the region will enable us to address the specific trauma and injury research needs of the MENA region.

Our Mission

The mission of the Middle East and North Africa Program for Advanced Injury Research (MENA PAIR) is to advance the science and practice of injury research in the region. MENA PAIR will identify, train, and recruit a diverse group of outstanding scientists dedicated to advancing injury research in the Middle East and North Africa region. MENA PAIR will enhance capacity at all levels of the injury research ecosystem by:
  1. Training PhD-, Masters-, and Diploma-level health professionals in state-of-the-art research design, methodology, and analytical approaches for injury research,
  2. Providing mentorship and long-term research and career development for injury scientists in the region.
  3. Working with government, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and civil society to raise awareness of injury, strengthen injury surveillance, and increase the availability of reliable data for injury research.
