First-year Yale PA Online Students Apply Coursework in Clinical Settings
These opportunities took place through the Yale PA Online Program’s Clinical Experience in Early Didactic (CEED) program. During the didactic year, through CEED, each student typically obtains at least 120 hours of direct patient care experience in a clinical setting in their community, under the supervision and mentorship of a preceptor.

Yale PA Online Students Gain Skills Through Early Clinical Experiences
Three months into their didactic year, students in the Yale PA Online Program begin their CEED experience, spending at least four to six hours a week in a health care clinic in their community under the supervision and mentorship of a preceptor. Physician Associate Program Celebrates its 48th Graduation
In her welcoming remarks, PA Program director Alexandria Garino, PhD, PA-C, praised the significant transformation and growth of each member of the class in this short time frame, noting she now viewed them as colleagues. She told the students that each of them would find a copy of their personal statement from their admissions application in the envelope they would receive with their diploma, to remind them of how far they have come.
National Exhibit Celebrating the PA Profession Travels to Yale
Surprising to some, the PA profession is only 50 years old. To mark this milestone, the Physician Assistant History Society and the National Library of Medicine have worked together on a joint project: “Physician Assistants: Collaboration and Care,” a traveling banner and online exhibition. Yale School of Medicine (YSM) is hosting the banner exhibit from November 4 – December 20, 2019, in the entry area of the Cushing Whitney Medical Library (CWML).
Yale PA Online Students Visit Local High Schools and Colleges to Mark National PA Week
Eight Yale School of Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) Online students marked National PA Week by visiting a high school or college in their local community and engaging with students about how to become a PA and the role of PAs. National PA Week, which occurs annually on October 6-12, is intended to recognize the PA profession and its contributions to the nation's health, and raise awareness and visibility of the profession.
Innovative Interprofessional Education for all Yale Medical, Physician Associate, and Nursing Students
For the past three years, every first-year MD, Physician Associate (PA), and Graduate Entry Pre-specialty in Nursing (GEPN) student has participated in the Interprofessional Longitudinal Clinical Experience (ILCE) course. ILCE occurs each year over 16 weeks from September through April.

Fifty-seven white coats hung neatly on a rack on the stage in Battell Chapel on the Yale University campus. Sun shone through the chapel’s stained glass windows and the buzz of conversation among guests filled the large space in anticipation of the March 15, 2019 White Coat Ceremony for the second cohort of Yale School of Medicine (YSM) Physician Assistant (PA) Online program students. Yale School of Medicine's Physician Associate Program Graduates Its 47th Class
“You came to us as novices and you leave us as colleagues. Well done and congratulations.” Assistant Professor and PA Program Director Alexandria Garino, PhD, PA-C, shared these sentiments with Yale School of Medicine’s (YSM) Physician Associate (PA) Class of 2018, during their Commencement ceremony on December 10, 2018. Family, faculty, and friends gathered in Yale’s Woolsey Hall to honor and celebrate the 36 members of Yale’s 47th class to graduate from the school’s PA Program. The graduation is not aligned with the university’s May Commencement ceremony, because the PA Program, which matriculates a new class each August, lasts 28 months.
Medical, Nursing, and PA students attend 18th annual Power Day
Over 240 advanced practice nursing students, physician associate program students, and third-year medical students filled Harkness Auditorium at the end of November to discuss power and control in health care relationships and the role that caregivers play in making structural changes that affect patient health outcomes. In addition, the attendees witnessed classmates and residents honored for modeling the responsible use of power and patient advocacy and heard experts discuss issues affecting the medical community as part of the 18th annual Power Day.Source: Yale Medicine Magazine
