Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Interest Groups (VESIG) provides students with early exposure to the specialty of vascular surgery and helps students get involved in research and training early in their medical career.

Members will have the chance to:

  • Attend/scrub in interesting vascular operations
  • Partake in open and endovascular training sessions
  • Apply for grants to attend regional and national vascular surgery conference
  • Partake in simulation center sessions
  • Attend industry-sponsored vascular surgery dinners in New Haven
  • Receive mentoring and career advice from Yale Vascular Surgery faculty
  • Engage in summer or yearlong research activities
  • Attend journal clubs and weekly vascular teaching sessions at YNHH

  1. Welcome Dinner (August 22nd at Pacifico Restaurant)
    • Students get to know the faculty, residents and other medical students
    • Learn about the basics and vascular and endovascular surgery
    • Learn about and inspect new vascular surgery devices
  2. Open and Endovascular Training Simulation Session (Early November)
  3. Research Panel (January)
    • Learn about available summer and year-long research projects from the faculty members (basic science, translational and clinical)
  4. Residency Match panel webinar
  5. VESIG Spring Dinner (May)
    • Show challenging vascular cases
    • Discuss career pathways: academic vs. private practice
