I am the Director of Neuroradiology MRI and Assistant Professor of Neuroradiology in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the Yale School of Medicine. I oversee the operational and image quality aspects of Neuroradiology MRI for our Department. When I was appointed Director of Neuroradiology MRI in 2009, our Department managed 3 MRI magnets; we now manage 15 MRI magnets across the Yale New Haven Health System. I also have a keen interest in the early adoption and implementation of advanced Neuroimaging techniques into our daily clinical practice. Specifically, I have been instrumental in the implementation of Functional MRI and Diffusion Tensor Tractography for Neurosurgical planning, MR Perfusion and MR Spectroscopy for Primary Brain Tumors and Radiation Necrosis versus Tumor Recurrence, 3D Volumetric Analysis for Alzheimer’s Disease, and High-Resolution Vessel Wall Imaging for intracranial aneurysms.

I am also the Director of Global Outreach in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the Yale School of Medicine. Since 2008, I have been actively involved in supporting the Diagnostic Radiology residency training program at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. While my own subspecialty is Neuroradiology, I have a keen interest in expanding and optimizing training in all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology in Tanzania and Sub-Saharan Africa. I spent the 2014-15 academic year as visiting Professor at the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI); during which time we successfully installed a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for the MOI Radiology Department. I have also helped expand the Neuroradiology and Cardiovascular imaging subspecialty services at the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH). I have strong ongoing partnerships with the radiology faculty, residents and staff at MNH, MUHAS and MOI; three autonomous institutions which share the same campus in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
