Eric J. Brandt MD, a postdoctoral fellow at Yale Cardiovascular Medicine, was selected for first place in the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Young Investigator Award in Outcomes Research. He presented his research at the Virtual Conference March 29.

A lipidologist and cardiologist by training, Brandt studies the effects of nutrition policy on population outcomes. He is best known for his research linking the effects of the trans fat restrictions in New York with a decline in heart attacks and strokes. His most recent study in JACC evaluated the epidemiology and disease associations of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. Research published in the European Heart Journal indicated that high Lp(a) may be an early indicator for atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.

Brandt is a current National Clinician Scholar. Follow him on Twitter.
