Global Lecture Sharing

Medical education is an important component of any successful and sustainable medical system. There is often a lack of structured residency training programs in countries with limited resources. In contrast to practical teaching, which can only be provided in person, sharing of educational lectures is feasible nearly everywhere around the world. While on-demand streaming of publicly accessible lectures from the internet provides some relief, we believe that participating live in lectures of a structured training program provides additional benefits.

Our global lecture sharing program was piloted with our partner residency program in Jamaica. In 2017, the program was expanded to include Tanzania. The infrastructure for recording and sharing of residency lectures allows trainees in partner residency programs to actively participate by asking and answering questions during the lecture. Given the encouraging results of initial surveys and feedback from partner program trainees to the streamed lectures, we have been increasing the frequency of streamed lectures with a goal of 2-3 lectures per week. Going forward, we aim to partner with other institutions in the US and to include more partner programs overseas. Early results were presented at RSNA 2017 in Chicago.
