The Yale Radiology Global Outreach Program provides local and international opportunities for trainees and faculty in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the Yale School of Medicine to help address the acute global shortage of well-trained diagnostic and interventional radiologists.

At the local level, we have a robust Yale RAD-AID chapter which coordinates online sharing of didactic lectures by our Yale faculty with radiology residency training programs in Jamaica and Tanzania. Some Yale faculty provide pro bono sub-specialty teleradiology consultations via a platform hosted by the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging (WFPI). We have also hosted Radiology junior faculty from Tanzania for sub-specialty observership rotations in Neuroradiology and Cardiac Imaging.

At the international level, we are proud of our ACGME-approved Tanzania Away Elective, which fully sponsors up to four senior Yale radiology residents to spend four weeks in Tanzania in the Fall and Winter, actively supporting the radiology residency training program at MUHAS. We also organize an away elective trip in the Winter to nearby sunny Jamaica through our Yale RAD-AID chapter. This Fall we are gearing up to inaugurate the first ever Interventional Radiology training program in Tanzania.

The Yale Radiology Global Outreach Program actively participates in the thriving global health community at Yale University, where many global health initiatives are ongoing and well-entrenched at the Yale School of Medicine, Yale School of Public Health, Yale School of Nursing and Yale School of Management. We look forward to continued collaborations and nurturing the participation of radiologists to address the acute global shortage of well-trained diagnostic and interventional radiologists.
