- Medieval Catalan SocietySpain 2008Professor Freedman has worked on projects related to medieval Catalan society and papal letters in Catalan archives.
- Feudal SocietyGermany; Spain; France; United Kingdom; Italy 1991Professor Freedman is part of a research group funded by the French research agency (Conseil National de Recherche Scientifique -- CNRS) that is concerned with feudal society and the seigneurial land regime of the Middle Ages. They meet once a year and have also held international conferences at the Ecole Francaise de Rome in 1999 and the Mission Francaise en Allemagne in Gottingen in February 2003.
