Project ASSERT marks 17 years helping patients access drug and alcohol treatment

Project ASSERT, a collaboration between the Emergency Department at the Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health, marked its 17th anniversary this spring. The innovative program employs an novel approach to screen, intervene, and directly refer patients with alcohol or substance use disorders to specialized care. The project has linked more than 48,000 patients with community-based alcohol and drug treatment services.
