The News System is part of YSM Profile System located at profile.yale.edu. The news system allows School of Medicine employees to disseminate and promote news about YSM and its faculty, staff, and organizations across the school's websites, on YSM Digital Signage screens, and in email newsletters periodically distributed to faculty and staff.
Just having an active Yale NetID gives you all the access you need to add an article to the News System. Log into https://profile.yale.edu, click the "News" menu item at the top of the page, then click the "Submit a News Article" button to get started. Once you've entered the content (or external link) for the article, tag it with relevant people and organizations, then publish the article. Your news article will begin to appear on relevant websites and people profiles as it's approved by designated news administrators.
To start managing news for an organization in the profile system, firstname.lastname@example.org
with your name, NetID, and the name of the organization for which you want to become an administrator.
To add a photo, go to the news item, click the edit button and scroll down to the photos and images section. Click the ‘add a photo’ button and click ‘add an image’ to find the photo on your computer’s hard drive. You may wish to enter a caption or credit as well. Then click ‘update’ to add the photo.
In general, to ensure your images display clearly in the current system and are future-proofed for any updates to the system, images uploaded along with news articles should be at least 1000px wide and cannot exceed 10MB.
To add a photo or podcast to a news story, go to the news item, click the edit button and scroll down to the Links, Documents and Multimedia section and click the ‘add a link’ button.
To add a youtube video, select youtube video from the link type dropdown, add a label for your video and paste in the URL.
