A Fund Honoring the Life and Work of Francis M. Lobo, MD '92

December 15, 2019

A year ago, December 22, 2018, our community lost Francis M. Lobo, MD '92, a skilled physician, passionate community organizer, and trusted friend. Frank was involved in countless community based initiatives in New Haven, from his life's work with his patients, to the Hill South Community Management Team, City Point Kitchen, and New Haven Farms, a non-profit farm on which Frank was a member of the Board of Directors.

Frank was drawn to the innovative and hands-on approach at New Haven Farm, transforming the boundaries of clinical primary care by operating the only production farm in the country with wellness programs for medically referred patients. Frank loved his time on the farm. He always arrived in his signature crisp white shirt, eager to roll up his sleeves and get to work!

In the fall of 2019 a number of Frank's friends launched the Frank Lobo Memorial Fund. This fund was established to honor Frank’s legacy and provide support in perpetuity for families in the Farm Based Wellness Program at New Haven Farms. Families receive life-altering interventions in the form of growing organic produce, exercise classes, nutrition, and cooking education.

The seven urban farms New Haven Farms cultivates provide dynamic and beautiful outdoor spaces where families are empowered to take control of their own health in tangible and delicious ways, creating pathways for the next generation to thrive.

Click here to donate this holiday season in memory of Frank, who is deeply missed. Thank you for your generosity. Your contribution honors Frank’s legacy and supports a project for which he felt a deep passion.
