Is your blind spot alarm on?

You may be thinking, “What does this mean?”

Blind spots are hidden biases that we ALL have. Once we acknowledge this truth, the next steps are to identify what these biases are (remember, they are hidden) and increase our awareness (turn on our alarms using the analogy of a car blind spot alarm system). One suggestion to identify and be more aware of your own biases is to examine your social circle both at work and at home. Be purposeful in including people who are different from you in all aspects of diversity. Another suggestion is to take the Implicit Association Test. Please visit this website for additional information and to take the test on various areas of diversity.
