Four pediatric psychology positions open to applications at the Yale Child Study Center

The Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) invites applicants for four full-time pediatric psychologist positions; one for the Section of Hematology and Oncology, one for the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, another for the Section of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, and one position in Primary Care at the New Haven Primary Care Consortium. Successful candidates will be appointed as Assistant Professor of Child Clinical Psychology on the Academic Clinician tenure track at the Yale School of Medicine.

Gastroenterology

The successful candidate will provide intervention as part of the interdisciplinary Gastroenterology team. In addition, the pediatric psychologist will offer outpatient consultation and treatment to patients and families seen through our General GI clinics as well as our Motility clinics. Opportunities for cultivation of specialized interests are available and welcomed. Clinical care will involve a combination of in person visits and telehealth options to reach families across the state of Connecticut. Clinical research opportunities available based on applicant interest.

Hematology and Oncology

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Hematology and Oncology team. For this role, the pediatric psychologist will offer outpatient consultation and treatment to patients and families affected by conditions related to cancer and blood disorders. Program development and clinical care opportunities exist in our oncology clinics, sickle cell disease clinics, and within our palliative care program. Cultivation of specialized interests are available and welcomed. 

Orthopedics

The successful candidate will be fully embedded in the Section of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. The pediatric psychologist’s primary clinical responsibilities will be as part of the Yale Limb Restoration and Lengthening Program as well as the Female+ Athlete Program in the field of sports medicine. Services offered include but are not limited to the following: pre-surgical evaluations, acute and chronic pain management, post-operative coping, injury adjustment, and rehabilitation support.

New Haven Primary Care Consortium

The successful candidate will join a team of psychiatrists and mental health clinicians in developing a model of integrated care, providing consultation as well as single session and brief diagnostic evaluation and intervention for behavioral health concerns related to chronic illness, adherence to medication plans, plans for enuresis or encopresis, and addressing parental accommodation of illness. As a primary training site for Yale Pediatrics residents, opportunities for psychoeducation about child development and child mental health may also be provided as part of teaching, consultation, or clinical contact.


Qualifications

Successful candidates must possess a doctoral degree in psychology, a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology, and be licensed or license-eligible in Connecticut. Training and experience in collaborative, integrated behavioral health models of service delivery in specialty medical clinics are highly preferred. We welcome applicants with interests in program development, quality improvement, and training.
