Global Health Education (GHE) Innovation Award—Applications Are Being Accepted



Overview

Yale School of Medicine's Office of Global Health Education (OGHE) sponsors the OGHE GHE Innovation Award, which is designed to promote faculty research programs in global health education at Yale and to provide opportunities for medical students to learn methods relevant to conducting this type of research. Funded activities should address an important issue in global health education.

Funding

The award is funded by the YSM Office of Global Health Education (OGHE). Awardees are selected by a committee of faculty members. Two awards of up to $10,000 each will be provided.

Proposed Requirements

This Award is open to faculty at Yale School of Medicine who work in the field of global health. In addition to faculty of medicine, successful proposals are required to include at least one Yale medical student, and may include other Yale faculty and trainees (resident, fellow, other health professional student) and faculty and trainees from the domestic or international site (as applicable). Proposals should also include activities with foreseeable “real world” impacts and benefits, and should build and sustain a larger institutional program collaboration. The project should utilize sound education theory and curriculum design precepts. Proposal activities should be able to be completed within two years of the award being granted.

Selection Criteria for GHE Innovation Award Submissions

  • Project addresses an important issue in global health education
  • PI is a full time Yale School of Medicine faculty member
  • Evidence of a strong on-site collaboration
  • Inclusion of Yale medical student and other trainees (residents, fellows, or inter-professional students)
  • Inclusion of faculty and trainees from the site as active collaborators
  • Inclusion of faculty from other Yale schools is encouraged
  • Feasibility
  • Strength of project design and evaluation of impact

Application

Proposals should be no longer than four pages, excluding budget, letter of support, and CV. The application should be organized in this format:

  • Part I: Applicant Information (brief bio)
  • Part II: Project Abstract
  • Part III: Introduction, Rationale, Potential Impact, and Strengthening Institutional Collaboration
  • Part IV: Project Plan: Activities, Timeline and Expected Outcomes
  • Part V: Budget
  • Part VI: Letter of support from the proposed site (as applicable)
  • Part VII: Applicant CV

To submit your application, email your completed proposal to Anne.Kellett@yale.edu by Friday, April 17, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their award status by June 1, 2020. All awardees will be asked to submit brief annual reports on their progress and to disseminate their work here at Yale as well as in other venues.
