Please join special guest Aaron Jafferis, a hip hop poet and playwright, on Tuesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. in the Donald J. Cohen Auditorium, for "Changing a Life Sentence: Adolescents Use Hip-Hop and Poetry to Transform from Objects into Subjects."

Jafferis, founding artistic director of The Word, New Haven's poetry-in-the-schools program and citywide youth poetry jam, will be the 2019 Inaugural Max Ritvo ‘13 and Alan B. Slifka ’51 Speaker. To learn more about Aaron and his current projects, visit www.aaronjafferis.com.

The Max Ritvo ’13 and Alan B. Slifka ’51 Program Fund for the Medical Humanities has been established at the Yale Child Study Center to explore the interface between children’s illness experiences—particularly of psychiatric conditions and of chronic or terminal illnesses—and the humanities.

Riva Ariella Ritvo, PhD, and the Alan B. Slifka Foundation have endowed the initiative, in memory of Ritvo’s husband and son.
