Ongoing Research

Mother and baby playing on the floor

Promising findings from the pilot study provided the preliminary data for the current efficacy study (RO1HD057947), now in its final phases and run in collaboration with two community health centers in New Haven. Since the start of this study in September 2009, approximately 100 additional families have been successfully engaged from the two health center sites and enrolled in our intervention or control groups.

While the sample size is small, initial results are very encouraging, and suggest strongly that highly trained, interdisciplinary teams with a focus on the development of parental reflective functioning are particularly well suited to working with high-risk mothers, babies, and their families.

Our ongoing research efforts include the continued work of the current efficacy study as well as additional longitudinal studies now in the planning phases.
