MTB Training & Consultation

Training is available through the MTB National Office for organizations seeking to implement (or supplement) MTB-HV or other reflective parenting programs. The multi-day MTB introductory training can stand alone, can be supplemented by a 6-phase replication program for full scale MTB-HV implementation, or can serve as the basis for ongoing individualized consultation and supervision.

The MTB Introductory Training provides an introduction to the basic constructs and techniques of the MTB-HV reflective parenting model. It is aimed at preparing clinicians and other program staff to develop and implement interdisciplinary reflective parenting programs in their own unique communities. The training introduces a range of clinical approaches that are key to successful reflective parenting programs. These approaches, which are grounded in a range of theoretical perspectives, are derived from MTB clinicians’ experiences in the field.

The introductory training is an important part of MTB-HV program replication, which includes specialized technical assistance, training, and consultation through the MTB National Office, extending over at least a 30-month period. Contractual engagement in six sequential phases are required in order to implement and use the Minding the Baby® trademarked program name.

MTB National Office staff involved in developing and supervising the delivery of MTB services and training are also available to provide on-going consultation, training, and/or supervision on an hourly or contractual basis for organizations implementing (or supplementing) similar reflective parenting programs. Such consultation is aimed at meeting the unique needs of individual programs and communities. Consultation may be provided via video/phone conferencing, and/or site visits, customized based on need. Typically, on-going consultation at this level involves customized training and/or supervision in reflective practices.
