Dr. DiPietro is being recognized for her many years of research and teaching about the public health implications of physical activity, particularly in the aging. She has dedicated her career to researching and promoting physical activity in older adults. Dr. DiPietro broke new ground in areas ranging from the measurement of physical activity to metabolic outcomes. Before moving to George Washington University to found and head their Exercise Science Department, she was an important advocate for young women at Yale School of Public Health.
