The 13th annual Medical Education Day at Yale (Med Ed Day) will take place on Thursday, June 5. This in-person event, hosted by Yale School of Medicine’s (YSM) Center for Medical Education, brings the Yale Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health together to spotlight excellence, scholarship, and innovation in health professions education.
The Center for Medical Education is proud to welcome Marc Triola, MD, associate dean for educational informatics and director of the Institute for Innovations in Medical Education at NYU’s Grossman School of Medicine, as this year’s keynote speaker. Triola will speak on the impact of artificial intelligence on medicine and medical education.
Jeremy Moeller, MD, MSc, associate dean for curriculum and associate professor of neurology, and Ninani Kombo, MD, associate professor of ophthalmology and visual science, will facilitate a workshop on “Enhancing Student Engagement in Small Group Learning.” The workshop will draw on lessons from a longitudinal high-engagement workshop pilot introduced at YSM last year. In addition, Donna Windish, MD, MPH, professor of medicine (general medicine), and Thilan Wijesekera, MD, MHS, assistant professor (internal medicine), will lead a “Speed Mentoring in Educational Scholarship” workshop, during which attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their scholarship interests with a diverse group of educational scholarship experts; the session will have a rotating format.
Other highlights of the day include Yale educators showcasing original health professions education research projects in oral presentations, a poster session with a wine and cheese reception, and a graduation ceremony for the Education Scholar Fellowship.
Registration for the conference will open in mid-April.
