Publications supported by the Yale CTSA must be submitted to PubMed Central and be assigned a PubMed Central ID (PMCID). This is part of the NIH Public Access Policy.
While some journals automatically submit publications to receive a PMCID, some require an author or approved designee to submit the article. Once your article is accepted for publication, if the journal does not automatically submit the article to PubMed Central, submit it yourself. Learn more about submission methods at the NIH.
The process of obtaining a PMCID, which is NOT the same as a PMID, is a step towards compliance with the policy.
Additional guidance is available through the Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library.
