Damir Musaev

Biography

Damir was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan and earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Western Michigan University (WMU). He studied the role of cell cycle gene CDC20 in embryonic development in Dr Donald Kane's lab at WMU and he explored the genetics of inborn pediatric brain disorders as a research associate in Dr Joseph Gleeson's lab at the Rockefeller University/UCSD. Currently as a PhD student under Dr Antonio Giraldez, Damir is studying the eukaryotic translation dependent mRNA degradation mechanism.
