Symposia

The US government is, far and away, the most generous national funder of cancer research in the world providing more than 50 percent of the billions invested each year. In turn, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), an independent research institute within the US government, is the primary driver of US cancer research and training. Three decades ago NCI established the Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE), to foster collaborative, interdisciplinary translational cancer research among multiple institutions. The award of SPORE grant money signals support for a specific program, in this case the Yale Head & Neck Cancer SPORE which includes cancer research experts from Fox Chase Cancer Center/Temple University, and University of North Carolina (UNC).
