A Yale BIDS team, led by Jaxon Zhang, a master's student in Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics (CBB), has won first place in the Domain Adaptation for Solving Multivendor Retinal Optical Coherence Tomography Dependence in Deep Learning Models (DA-OCT) challenge, which is part of the AI-READI challenge series held in conjunction with MICCAI. The challenge drew 107 participants and 467 submissions.
All three team members work in the Chen Lab, which is led by Assistant Professor Qingyu Chen, PhD. Zhang, who is first author on the team's submission, collaborated with Rong Zhou, PhD, a postdoctoral associate, and Younjoon Chung, a PhD student in CBB who is co-mentored by Assistant Professor Chen and Professor Lucila Ohno-Machado. The team's entry earned a final score of 0.8068 for the macula and widefield tasks, finishing just ahead of the runner-up.
