Natalia Buza, MD, Named First Director of New Yale Pathology Center of Excellence for Women’s Health

Natalia Buza, MD, Professor of Pathology and Associate Director of Gynecologic Pathology, has been appointed the first Director of the new Yale Pathology Center of Excellence for Women’s Health. Dr. Buza will oversee Gynecologic and Breast Pathology clinical diagnostic services across all hospitals in the Yale New Haven Health System.

“In her new role, Dr. Buza will foster collaborative relationships throughout and beyond Yale School of Medicine and YNHH, focusing on the pursuit of excellence in academic Gynecologic and Breast Pathology,” Sanja Dacic, MD, PhD, Vice Chair and Director of Anatomic Pathology at Yale Pathology, announced.

Dr. Buza will work closely with Uma Krishnamurti, MD, MBBS, PhD, Director of Breast Pathology, and Pei Hui, MD, PhD, Director of Gynecologic Pathology and the Center for the Precision Medicine of Trophoblastic Disease, to build “a nurturing environment for our residents, fellows, and faculty who will become the next generation of leaders in women’s health pathology,” Dr. Dacic said.

Dr. Buza was selected for the position by a search committee chaired by Dr. Dacic and comprised of Adebowale Adeniran, MD, Professor of Pathology and Director Cytopathology, Angelique W. Levi, MD, Vice Chair and Director of Pathology Outreach Services, Andrea Barbieri, MD, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Residency Program Director, Mina Xu, MD, Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Director of Hematopathology, and Sudhir Perincheri, MBBS, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Director of Digital Pathology.

Dr. Buza earned her MD at the University of Pecs Med and Health Science Center. She completed her residency at Yale School of Medicine in 2009 and her fellowship in 2010. She is an editorial board member of Modern Pathology, Human Pathology and the International Journal of Gynecologic Pathology.
