University of Puerto-Rico students conduct their medical training at UPR and their PhD research at Yale. While at Yale, students participate in Yale MD/PhD Program activities, including graduate level courses specifically designed for physician-scientists, seminars on research projects in progress, departmental retreats, and other educational and social activities that the Program conducts. Students are matched with faculty mentors who provide academic guidance, and students also become part of the Big Sib/Little Sib Program in which newly admitted students are paired with senior MD/PhD students. While still in the first year of medical school at UPR, students are provided with information concerning potential research mentors at Yale.
