Gilliam Fellowships for Advance Study

October 12, 2016

The BBS Program has an opportunity to nominate a select number of eligible 2nd and 3rd year students for HHMI’s prestigious Gilliam Fellowship, which is awarded annually to graduate students who are interested in academic careers and who will enhance the diversity of the faculty workforce. The fellowship provides an annual stipend of $33,000 plus $3,000 in additional funding each year for conferences, computers, books, and other research-related expenses. Yale will supplement the fellowship to the BBS stipend level of $34,450 and will also provide an additional $4,000 for a total stipend of $38,450.

If you are interested in being considered for this fellowship, please complete the enclosed brief application. Please make sure that your faculty advisor completes the second part. Submit the application and a copy of your CV to Jennifer Franzoni in the BBS office. The deadline is October 14.

A faculty committee will review the applications and nominate a subset of the students for the fellowship. Nominees will then be asked to complete HHMI’s full application later this year.
