Genetics Department Seminar Series: "Using functional genomics to interpret genetic diseases"

The talk will discuss uses of population-scale gene expression from projects such as GTEx and UDN to enhance the detection of common and rare variants involved in diverse genetic diseases. Specific topics will include (1) demonstrating the importance of molecular colocalization approaches for studying susceptibility loci for genetic diseases and (2) using outliers to identify impactful rare variants in both common and rare genetic diseases.
