Fellows are assessed by faculty both in and out of anesthesiology, and nurses. They are evaluated in the spectrum of the six ACGME core competencies: medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, systems-based practice and practice-based learning. The program director and associate program director review these evaluations monthly. Strengths and weaknesses are identified and discussed with each fellow to assure a successful completion of the program.
Fellows receive regular feedback. Formal reviews of progress and individualized learning plans occur semiannually with the program director or associate program director.
The Clinical Competence Committee meets quarterly to review all fellow data and recommend whether credit towards American Board of Anesthesiology Pediatric Anestheesiology certification be granted.
