Episode 1: The Art of Noticing

Can fine art make you a better doctor? Yale physicians Jacqueline Dolev, M.D. ’01 and Irwin M. Braverman, M.D. ’55 explain how trips to a museum improved students' powers of observation.

Dr. Braverman is the co-creator of Yale School of Medicine's Workshop on Observational Skills, which has been offered since the late 1990s. Dr. Dolev was one of the first students in the course, and wrote her medical school thesis on it. Fifteen years later, the workshop has been offered at more than two dozen medical schools – and Scotland Yard.
