Marc O. Yoshizumi, MD ’70, retired in 2007 after a 29-year career at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he served as professor of ophthalmology. During his tenure, he directed the Ocular Trauma Center and led the Medical Student Education Program in Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute.

After graduating from Yale School of Medicine in 1970, Dr. Yoshizumi was named a Knight Memorial Fellow in Nervous and Mental Diseases at the Department of Anatomy, Oxford University. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Medical School and Hospital (1971–72), followed by a residency in Neurology and Neuropathology at UC San Francisco (1972–74). He then specialized in vitreoretinal surgery and diseases during his ophthalmology residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School (1974–78).
