Beatrix Hamburg MD ‘48, Portrait Unveiling and Lecture: June 3

The YSM Program for Art in Public Spaces and the Office for Women in Medicine and Science invite you to attend two events to honor Beatrix A. McCleary Hamburg, MD ’48.

Dr. Hamburg was an internationally renowned researcher, advocate, and policy maker in the field of adolescent psychiatry, mental health, and violence prevention. In 1948, Dr. Hamburg was the first Black woman to graduate from Yale School of Medicine.

The Beatrix A. McCleary Hamburg, MD ‘48 Lectureship
Juanita L. Merchant, MD, PhD, chief of gastroenterology and hepatology and Regents Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona, Tucson, will deliver the inaugural lecture on Reversing TIME (Tissue/Tumor Immune Microenvironment in Gastric Cancer.)
