John A. Libertino, MD, RES ’70, completed his urology residency at Yale-New Haven Medical Center after earning his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He currently serves as professor of urology at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Libertino held several senior leadership roles at Lahey Clinic Medical Center, including chief executive officer and chairman, chairman of the division of surgery, vice chairman of the board of trustees, and director of the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center. A frequent contributor to medical journals, he served as editor-in-chief of The American Journal of Urology Review.
Board-certified in urology and surgery, Dr. Libertino has received numerous honors, including the American Urological Association’s Hugh Hampton Young Award, Yale School of Medicine’s Best Teacher Award, Tufts University School of Medicine’s Milton and Natalie Zucker Clinical Teaching Prize, and the Lahey Clinical Medical Research Award.
He is the author of a newly published book, entitled Renal Cancer, reflecting his decades of expertise in the field.
