U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, M.D. ’03, M.B.A.’03 visit to campus

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, M.D. ’03, M.B.A.’03, returned to Yale in September for a round of talks over two days that took him to the schools of public health, management, and medicine. He also spoke at Gateway community college. His message throughout was that “health is the common thread that weaves through everything that we do. If we don’t have health, we don’t have anything else.”

Accompanying him was his wife of three weeks, Alice Chen, M.D., a 2001 graduate of Yale College and the executive director of Doctors for America.

“Coming to Yale feels like coming home,” Murthy said. “The memories I have here are rich, they are wonderful. I was really blessed to be able to have some time here.”
