Match Day 2013
Every March, graduating medical students around the country look forward to the day that will determine their professional, not to mention geographic, direction for the next three or more years: the Main Residency Match. Better known simply as Match Day, it’s an occasion marked by high excitement and anticipation, as applicants find out where they’ll be working come July. In 2012, more than 4,000 residency programs participated, offering nearly 27,000 places to more than 38,000 applicants from U.S., Canadian, and international medical schools. If you are passing by Harkness Ballroom at noon next Friday, don’t be surprised to hear a lot of buzz and more than a few whoops of joy.
