Biography
Dr. Mattera is Executive Director at the Yale New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) and lecturer at Yale University School of Public Health. She is also Director of Training and Education at CORE and is Co-director of the Yale-CORE Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) K-12 training program and lead of the Leadership Development series. She co-founded CORE with Dr. Krumholz in 1995 and is responsible for strategic planning and oversight of staff and resources for CORE’s programs focused on the evaluation of quality and outcomes at the local, national and international level.
Dr. Mattera brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare and applied clinical research as clinician, hospital administrator, investigator, and project director for several large government contracts, multicenter trials and observational studies. Throughout her career she has worked at the interface of academics and real world healthcare, designing and implementing clinical research studies that have directly improved healthcare and patients’ lives. As Executive Director of CORE, she has fostered collaborations and implemented programs with other academic institutions, hospital organizations, national societies, federal agencies (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Department of Defense, Food and Drug Administration) and international organizations. Dr. Mattera has expertise in leadership, quality measurement, program implementation and evaluation, and mixed-methods research employing quantitative and qualitative techniques to understand hospital performance and patients’ experience with healthcare programs.
