Administrative Office

The YMG Administrative Office provides centralized management services to the eighteen clinical departments. The responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee business operations to bill and collect professional fees for clinical faculty of the Yale Medical Group. Oversight and direction of the centralized Patient Financial Services operations of the of the Yale Medical Group (YMG) faculty practice performed by the following departments:
    • Patient Accounts
    • Information Services and Decision Support
    • Centralized Patient Registration
    • Finance
    • Managed Care Contracting
    • Physician Credentialing
    • Ambulatory Care Consultation Service
  • Develop, implement and follow policies and procedures established by the YMG Board of Governors.
  • Direct, manage, coordinate and participate in the negotiation, implementation, monitoring and management phases of the YMG managed care agreements. Organize and direct goal setting for managed care contract negotiations.
  • Direct the overall credentialing activities of the Credentialing department to ensure that timely and accurate credentialing information is provided to the YMG Peer Credentialing Committee and the managed care plans with which the faculty practice contracts.
  • Communicate with YMG clinical department chairs and administrators to facilitate the sharing of practice-wide information. Respond to the business requests and needs of physicians, clinical department administrators and other support staff within the scope of the YMG.
  • Direct the development and implementation of information system solutions to support the YMG business and clinical operations and initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison between YMG and Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) on collaborative projects related to: clinical integration, information systems, patient accounting, credentialing, joint clinical programs, marketing and planning and facility operations.
  • Direct and report on the YMG revenue, expenses and other related financial monitoring activities. Take appropriate measures to minimize central expenses and maintain a low assessment rate for YMG services.
  • Provide support by way of YMG resources for Board of Governors committees including the Finance Committee, Managed Care Contracting Committee, Credentials Committee, Clinical Initiatives Committee, and Clinic Chiefs Committee.
  • Provide support by way of YMG resources for clinical operations, program planning and facilities design and construction requests. Perform in-depth consultative reviews and provide interim and final reports at the request of department chairs.
  • Manage the implementation and monitoring of HIPAA privacy policies and procedures. Serve as resource for HIPAA-related questions and concerns.
  • Analyze Press Ganey patient satisfaction survey results. Construct a bi-annual report of result scores; trending compared to previous reporting periods; and group sharing of how improvements were made.
  • Coordinate patient advocacy efforts on behalf of YMG. These efforts include staffing a telephone referral hotline; resolving patient complaints; and responding to patient inquiries.
