COO Fred Borrelli has worked in health care environments for more than 20 years, and has served Yale as associate chair and chief of administration in the Department for Surgery. He has also worked in corporate banking, the hospitality industry and community-based services. Now, he says, “My priority is to focus on the needs of our patients and physicians, because they are our customers and will pursue other options if we don’t exceed their expectations.”
Yale Medical Group’s first Outstanding Employee, Orimena Givens, was a stay-at-home mom when she started to think about ways to contribute outside of her home. She became a medical assistant in the Department of Internal Medicine, and 13 years later her coworkers and supervisors considered to be a shining example of providing thoughtful, compassionate care. “I think about the care that was given to me and my family in the hospital, and I want the people that we treat here to feel the same way,” she says.
