While other Connecticut hospitals remain flat in numbers of endocrine surgeries performed, Yale-New Haven Hospital’s numbers are soaring, thanks to four excellent surgeons and a focus on efficiency, relationship-building and compassionate care.
Leadership Interview
We spoke to the Yale School of Medicine’s chair of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences about his leadership philosophy, the wonderful mentors who helped shape his leadership values and the challenges facing leaders today.
Practice Standards

A new inpatient consultation policy gives the referring physician responsibility for initiating a consult within what he or she thinks is an appropriate time frame, based on new guidelines from the Practice and Standards Committee.
Compassionate Caregivers

Matthew Ellman, MD, and his staff provide preventive and maintenance care, and are working hard to normalize end-of-life planning. They feel a practice is more successful when caregivers open themselves to other people’s lives.
