Yale Medical Group practices welcome new physicians

Group includes leaders in surgery and experts in a variety of fields

Every year in the fall, Yale Medical Group welcomes a new group of talented, highly specialized physicians from academic centers around the country and the world, helping to round out the practice with expertise in a variety of fields. This year is no exception.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

Aileen Gariepy, MD, MPH, has joined the practice in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive services, and is an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and her clinical practice focuses on family planning, including contraception, abortion, complex contraception consultation for women with co-morbidities, medical or surgical management of early pregnancy failures and surgical management of intrauterine fetal demise. Dr. Gariepy completed her medical degree at MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine, her master’s in public health and a fellowship in family planning at University of Pittsburgh Graduate Studies, and a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.


Alexander F. Au, MD, is the new director of the Breast Reconstruction Program at the Yale Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven. His clinical interests include all aspects of plastic surgery, with a focus on breast reconstruction utilizing free autologous tissue transfer. Dr. Au completed his medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, plastic surgery residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

Pramod Bonde, MD, is the new surgical director of mechanical circulatory support. He is board certified in surgery, and in cardiac and thoracic surgery. Dr. Bonde practices adult cardiac surgery, including surgical therapies for coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and heart failure. During very successful stints at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and UPMC in Pittsburgh, he accrued an extensive record of outstanding clinical outcomes in cardiac transplantation, and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation as bridge-to-transplant and destination therapies. He completed his master’s and medical degrees and MD at University of Bombay.
