Massive Epic go-live was intense, but made for an exciting day

Friday, February 1, was exciting—intense, sometimes stressful, but exciting—as most remaining ambulatory practices and Yale-New Haven Hospital prepared for the “big bang,” the massive Epic go-live. Also going live that day were Cadence, Prelude and Resolute Professional Billing.

You may know a doctor who changed a patient’s life, but what about an account assistant? Our second Outstanding Employee goes out of her way to makes sure patients understand their explanations of benefits. Her actions saved one patient thousands of dollars.

Physician at Work: Delivering babies in the early morning

Christian Pettker, MD, remembers being a medical student and watching an older obstetrician stroll off to a delivery at 3 a.m. He envisioned himself in the same role. Today Dr. Pettker is medical director of the labor and birth unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
