About the image

Flexispiri rappini

This scanning electron micrograph shows several Flexispiri rappini bacteria at a magnification of over 13,000x. The species was originally isolated from sheep fetuses. Later research and sequencing placed it as a member of the Heliobacter family, and it is now referred to as Heliobacter rappini. In humans, it can act as an invasive pathogen, especially in immune-compromised patients.
