YCCI offers translation services for recruitment materials, informed consents, and other study related materials. Interpreter services are also available upon request.

Translation into Spanish is available through our Community Partnership Program with Junta for Progressive Action. The cost is 0.22 cents per word up to 10,000 words and 0.30 per word thereafter. For informed consents, these charges apply to sections of the informed consent that are unique to each study. Standard sections of the informed consent (available on the HRPP website) have already been translated and will not incur any charges.

There are many regional differences that are reflected in the Spanish language. Junta uses the Spanish dictionary form, which is the official version of Spanish. This ensures that materials are comprehensible to all members of New Haven’s Spanish-speaking community.

Junta is able to provide translation services with a rapid turnaround time (generally within 72 hours) and a certificate of translation. If a member of the study team edits the translation, the certificate is no longer valid and additional charges may be incurred if the editing process becomes time consuming. Junta staff member provides translation services not only to Yale, but also to the city of New Haven and local businesses. It is therefore recommended that investigators use the translation provided by Junta that is accompanied by a certificate of translation.

To request translation or interpreter services, complete the intake form and e-mail it to theresa.katz@yale.edu. Please allow a minimum of three business days for Spanish translations to be completed.
